OSF HealthCare Cardiovascular Institute began the region’s only general cardiology fellowship program in 2013. The three-year program has a total of nine general cardiology fellows and one research fellow.

Since the program launched, it has been widely successful, graduating its first class in June 2016. The fellows of the graduating class have gone on to achieve advanced fellowships at some of the country’s premier centers of excellence in interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, cardiac imaging and heart failure.

Bringing research across the country

Cardiovascular research is a core component to the fellowship program’s curriculum. Among the team of fellows, they have presented at every national cardiology convention every year since the program’s inception. Within the last three years, the program has published over 25 publications in respected journals.

Impacting patient care

The impact of the cardiology fellowship program also affects patient care at OSF Cardiovascular Institute. Our faculty teach our fellows evidence-based care, which is the most effective, up-to-date cardiovascular care available. Because of that, our patients also receive that same standard of care.

Cardiovascular Grand Rounds

Grand Rounds are educational presentations on a variety of cardiovascular topics presented by OSF HealthCare Cardiovascular Institute providers. The presentations are open to providers, whether they are OSF HealthCare providers or not. Typically, Grand Rounds occur on a quarterly basis at different venues throughout Illinois.
